Telugu Film Industry (Tollywood) Related News / Discussion

Apart from all his comic characters i loved his acting in aa naluguru.
Because of his acting the climax had become heart touching
Yes. Peak Villianism in Ganesh Movie (Health Minister) - Venkatesh movie, some notable characters in Jambalakadi Pamba, Aha Na Pellanta.

If the Telugu film industry is named Tollywood (presumably because of the T in Telugu), how come the Tamil film industry is called Kollywood ?!

Actually the Bengali film industry, being based in Tollygunje, Kolkata, has been called Tollywood for decades (well into the previous century), AFAIK, and @TechnoFino might have something to say about it, I think. šŸ™‚
.
It all started when some American weekly mocked Indian movies calling it Bollywood (Bombay + Hollywood) and ridiculed Big B. It stuck forever in the media. Later this was adopted for other industries too.

Yes Tollywood coined over Telugu. As the movie industry is in Gachibowli, gollywood would be ridiculous .Unfortunately it coincides with Bengal's Tollywood.
Tamil industry is in Kodamabakam Chennai hence Kollywood. Malayalam film industry is Mollywood. Karnataka Sandalwood. SO, Telugu , Malayalam industries named after the language.

BTW it must be called Kinema root word is Kinetics (Physics branch that studies motion of objects) but some one made a typo Cinema and the pronunciation sinema stuck forever.

In some period dramas set before this transformation took place (e.g. in the British 'Downton Abbey'), the directors were mindful about this, and it was actually pronounced 'Kinema'.
