Well, renewal can easily be waived off by spending.

And for joining charges you will get 5k or 3k voucher (maybe Yatra or clear trip). You can sell them at 50% off which would easily recover joining charges + some extra bonus.

In a way it's a good thing that both SBI and HDFC are into similar cards - if one is devalued badly, people can get the other. Unless both are devalued equally 😄🤦🏻‍♂️
