Looking for my First (Super) Premium Credit Card - Suggestions

TF Buzz
I have the following credit cards now with all being LTF -
  1. ICICI Amazon Pay
  2. ICICI Sapphiro Dual - MC / Amex
  3. HDFC Millennia
  4. IDFC First Wealth
  5. Yes Klick from Kiwi
  6. SBI SimplyClick
  7. Axis Flipkart
  8. Axis Neo Rupay
Had a FYF HDFC Tata Neu Infinity but it is undergoing closure process at the moment. The bank refused to convert it to LTF after multiple requests despite my spending being higher than the waiver criteria in the last year. Due to devaulation in terms of lounge access and fixed expiry of NeuCoins I decided to close it.

Now, coming to my main requirement, I am looking to enter the miles world with a (super) premium credit card. I don't have great spends to speak about, especially on hotels and flights, but looking to experience the same. Thinking in terms of spending 2-3 nights a year in properties like Marriott / ITC / Taj. While I would love to drive, far off places could mean taking a flight 🙂

My primary spending categories are groceries and general household items, along with fuel, which I manage through HP Pay vouchers, bought using SimplyClick. The only high-ticket spending would be annual jewellery purchases from a local brand. While they accept credit cards, I see that most cards don't give rewards on jewellery. Currently, my annual credit card spends are under 8 lakhs using credit cards, and I have been happy with 5% returns in most scenarios. Plus 1% when paid using HDFC Platinum DC.

Wondering if I must get an Axis Atlas and push regular online and E-com spends to Amazon GVs. I have a paid upgrade offer to ICICI Emeralde but not Metal.

Good to see you want to maximize your benefits on spending.

For now Atlas seems a good option as you are beginning your miles game. Infinia and ICICI EPM metal would be tough for now as they are tightening screws for both. You can try both if you take home salary is more than 3-3.5L net per month.

I would also suggest you to add SBI Cashback card, which is no nonsense card for 5% CB on all online spends except Jewelry purchases on Flipkart & Myntra (Updated recently). Just check the offline jeweler MCC code before swiping Axis Atlas card.

The approach you have suggested looks good. I had overlooked Regalia Gold earlier - do you think that would make sense for my use case? I would not be eligible for Infinia / ICICI EPM.
Regalia Gold is not an excellent card but you will have access to SmartBuy platform and non spending lounge access which is a good option. Regalia Gold will be stepping stone for further upgrades in HDFC Portfolio.

But RG is not a good travel reward credit card. Mayura might be a decent travel rewarding card rather than RG.
